Barriers have been placed around the Faisalabad RPO’s office. Visitors will now have to go through the Operations SSP’s office and be frisked at several check points in order to reach the RPO’s office.
On Thursday, dozens of visitors protested against the new security set up. One of the protesters said, “If the RPO is scared of terrorists, how will he provide protection to the people.” Another protester said it was a shame that citizens had to go through several check points to visit the RPO. A spokesperson for the RPO told journalists that the measures had been taken in view of recent terrorist attacks.
He said they had received reports that terrorists were planning to target important government offices. “That is why the security for the RPO’s office had to be increased.” The spokesman said visitors are requested to cooperate with security personnel so that the nefarious designs of terrorists could be thwarted.
