Batsman keeps a cool head in team’s victory over Hyderabad in one-over eliminator

Three runs in the one-over eliminator was all Faisal Mubashir needed in Bahawalpur’s victory over Hyderabad after the scores were tied in their main fixture at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Asked to bat first, Bahawalpur posted 160-4 in their allotted 20 overs with the help of Mubashir’s unbeaten knock of 61 in his 47-ball stay which included seven hits to the boundary. Muhammad Yasir and Riasat Ali also contributed with 42 and 44 runs respectively.
Hyderabad tied the score at the cost of five wickets with the help of two half-centuries from Azeem Ghumman and Faisal Akhtar to take the match to the one-over eliminator.

With a three-run target on hand, Bahawalpur captain Kamran Hussain and in-form Mubashir came on the field, with the latter scoring two runs on the first ball and then striking a four on the fourth delivery to seal victory for his side.
In the other fixture at the Rawalpindi Stadium, man-of-the-match Musadiq Ahmed achieved the domestic T20’s second-fastest fifty to guide Peshawar to a seven-wicket win over Islamabad.
Chasing 182, Peshawar reached the target with the loss of three wickets and 2.3 overs remaining as opener Rafatullah Mohmand scored 61 off 38 balls. The match was finished by Musadiq, who struck 57 off 18 balls with six fours and four sixes.
“We encountered some difficulty in facing the spinners but soon regained our hold on the match,” Mohmand told The Express Tribune.
Latif instrumental in Karachi Blues’ win
At the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad, Khalid Latif’s 71 led Karachi Blues to a seven-wicket win over Faisalabad.
Chasing 159, Karachi Blues achieved the target with 10 balls to spare and a loss of three wickets as Latif struck six four sand four boundaries in his 44-ball stay, while opener Khurram Manzoor scored 47 off 45 balls.
Earlier, Faisalabad posted 158-5 with Rumman Raees and Abdul Ameer bagging two wickets each for 32 and 38 runs respectively.
In the other match at the same venue, Multan defeated Sialkot in a closely-contested encounter by seven runs, courtesy of wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal’s 51 runs off 35 balls.
Multan first lost seven wickets as they set a 163-run target for Sialkot, who were dismissed for 155-9 as Majid Ali picked up three scalps, while Aamer Yamin and Raizwan Haider took two wickets each.
In Wednesday’s last match, Multan thrashed Rawalpindi by eight wickets, where Kamran had scored the same number of runs which he would score the next
day against Sialkot, using up the same number of deliveries as well.
