QUETTA:

The Central Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq on a three-day visit to Quetta said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is only important because of Gwadar and therefore the local people should be given top-priority for jobs and other employment opportunities.

He was of the view that the youth in Balochistan were deprived and therefore were abandoning education. They have taken to the mountains, he said, adding that they are not enemies of Pakistan or Islam but are against cruelty and oppression.

“Whosoever is subjected to atrocities, would stand against it,” he said, stating that the CPEC carries international importance and by its inauguration, employment opportunities would be generated in Pakistan.

“The government should, therefore, legislate to protect the rights of the people of Gwadar,” Siraj said, adding that the first right of employment opportunities should be given to the people of Gwadar.

He said that the government should not keep the local population unemployed on the pretext that they lack skills. Rather they should be provided education and imparted skills so that they can be utilised.

He further said that the current political impasse existing in Pakistan is a creation of politicians who were hampering solutions for the masses.

He stressed upon the government to focus on the genuine issues of the masses and set aside non-issues so that the masses are provided some relief.
