Anniversary: Seminar on Raashid held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal
People in Punjab capital pay tribute to poet.

Halqa Arbabe Zauq arranged its third session on Noon Meem Raashid at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on December 26.
Oriental College principal Fakharul Haq Noori read his research paper, “Raashid Ki Shairi ki Siasi Abaad” (Political Dimensions of Raashid’s poetry). Ziaul Hassan, a lecturer at the Oriental College, read his research paper, “Raashid Ka Asloob”, which discussed the style of the poet. Government College University’s Saadat Saeed presented a research paper, “Jadliati Bahao”, about Raashid’s language and the individuality of his poetry. Saadat Saeed has also written six books on Raashid copies of which he distributed amongst participants.
Three of the six books are currently available. Dr Tabassum Kashmiri, who also wrote La-Masawi Raashid (X = Raashid) in 1994, presided over the session and was appreciative of the manner in which people in the city paid tribute to the poet. He stressed the need for a comprehensive biography on Raashid.
