Debunking rumours: No raid at JPMC, says director

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) did not conduct any raid at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) nor have any of its officials resigned, contrary to the reports being aired by certain media houses.
A senior official at the hospital told The Express Tribune that the investigation agency had written a letter to the hospital management on August 26, seeking information about some administrative issues. The hospital management had replied within two days, said the official.

Rumours of a raid at one of the major hospitals of the province circulated in the media for two days, claiming that the offices were raided while the top management was questioned on certain issues.
"There was a routine inquiry on certain matters by the NAB," explained JPMC executive director Prof Anisuddin Bhatti. "There was no raid. It is a fake story," he added. The director, who was appointed the head of the hospital around six months ago, held a meeting on Monday to explain his side of the story. The news of the director's resignation was also brought up in the meeting. "Why would I resign?" questioned Prof Bhatti.
