Karachi Blues on course for huge win

NBP on top against HBL in Quaid Trophy.

Multan were on the brink of defeat in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy after being reduced to 205 for eight in the second-innings, a lead of five runs, against Karachi Blues. Tabish Khan took four for 66 to go with a five-wicket haul earlier in the match as Multan, trailing by 200, improved on their first-innings score of 65.

Sialkot left reeling

Sialkot were in trouble at 51 for four after being asked to follow-on against Islamabad at the Diamond Ground. Islamabad, who were earlier bowled out for 319, dismissed Sialkot for a paltry 131 as Fakhir Hussain took six for 46. Rauf Akbar then claimed three for 14 as Sialkot still need another 137 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Rawalpindi set up thriller

The match was set for a climax as Rawalpindi require another 121 runs to win with nine wickets left against Faisalabad at the Pindi Stadium. The pitch that saw 18 wickets fall on the first day, proved to be a bowlers’ paradise again as Faisalabad were dismissed for 132 in the second-innings after Rawalpindi recovered from 94 for eight to reach 160. The hosts’ bowler Sadaf Hussain finished with 11 wickets for the match after taking six for 40 in the second-innings.

NBP march towards victory


NBP were on course for victory against HBL as they need another 155 to win on the third day at the Gaddafi Stadium. Earlier, NBP gained a 74-run lead after being dismissed for 190 in the first-innings before HBL made 226. Imran Farhat hit 101 while Danish Kaneria contributed 48 to HBL’s total.

Wapda on top against SNGPL

Wapda had the upper hand against SNGPL as they gained 224-run lead in the second-innings as they reached 138 for three at the LCCA Ground. Earlier, SNGPL were bowled out for 141 in reply to Wapda’s score of 227. Kashif Raza took five for 41 for Wapda.

Tanvir shines against PIA

Sohail Tanvir followed up a six-wicket haul in the first-innings with making 44 in the second as ZTBL managed 238 in response to PIA’s 287.
