Travelling seminar: Cotton scientists to frame proposals

MULTAN: Agriculture scientists from across Pakistan would embark on a 15-day “travelling seminar” on August 31 to review the cotton crop situation and research work. Other than public sector scientists, 25 scientists from the private sector would be joining the journey encompassing the cotton belt comprising Punjab, Sindh, parts of Balochistan and K-P. Scientists would visit farms of progressive growers, standing cotton crop and public and private sector research facilities. They will have a look at seed preparation and new varieties being developed by the scientists. The seminar would conclude on October 14 in Karachi, when scientists would participate in brainstorming sessions and prepare a comprehensive set of recommendations to achieve enhanced production of better-quality cotton.
