En Route To France : HEC sends off 92 MS, PhD scholars

The HEC has allocated more than 35 per cent of development funds to merit-based scholarship

A ceremony to send off 92 MS and PhD scholars to French universities was held at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Secretariat on Tuesday. The selected scholars come from across Pakistan under the ‘Overseas Scholarship for MS/MPhil leading to PhD in Selected Fields, Phase-II’. HEC has sent 654 scholars to France for PhD under different scholarship programmes, with 432 having successfully completed their degrees. “The HEC has allocated more than 35 per cent of development funds to merit-based scholarship programmes managed by the commission and public-sector universities,” HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said. Pierre Fournier, chargé d’affaires at the French Embassy, appreciated the increasing number of scholars to France, and advised them to build bridges between the two nations.
