ISLAMABAD:
A local court on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to Asif Nazar aka DJ Butt, who rose to fame during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s sit-in in Islamabad last year, after he appeared before the court.

Islamabad Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Waqas Rasheed granted bail to Nazar against the surety of Rs100,000 and directed him to appear before the court on the next date of hearing.

Non-bailable warrants of arrest were issued on Friday for DJ Butt in connection with the violation of a ban on the use of loudspeakers in the capital.

Interestingly, the police also reached the commissioner office when DJ Butt got there for getting bail in the case. During his stay at the office, the police tried to arrest him but left the premises when the court staffers informed them that the bail had been approved by the court and Butt was present there for fulfilling paper work.

The assistant commissioner had issued arrest warrants for DJ Butt for the violation of Section 144 of the criminal procedure code and amplifier act during the sit-ins last year.

The court had issued warrants after Nazar failed to appear before the court. The court had directed the SHO of the Secretariat police to arrest Nazar and present him before the court on the next hearing.

A case was registered against DJ Butt at the Secretariat Police Station in Islamabad on charges of violating section 144 and sections of amplifier act.

Following the hearing, the case was adjourned till September 3.
