Going green: District nurseries in the offing

The government has decided to set up nurseries under the Punjab Social Forestry Project to overcome the shortage of trees.



A spokesman of the Forest Department said the government had sanctioned Rs60 million for setting up the nurseries. He said 7.2 million saplings would be planted in a year. He said each nursery would produce 100,000 saplings which would be supplied to farmers at cheap rates. They would also be provided to the public schools, offices and hospitals.
