Higher education: Autonomy for colleges on the cards

The handout quoted Khattak as saying the provincial government will have nothing to do with the institution

PESHAWAR:
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said the provincial government is considering to grant autonomy to all postgraduate institutions in the province. This was stated in a handout issued by the CM’s Secretariat on Sunday. According to the document, Khattak said this while addressing a delegation from Post Graduate College, Kohat at K-P House in Islamabad. “Khattak urged academics to consider the suggestion,” read the statement. “If such a policy is introduced the postgraduate institutions will be managed by an independent board that will be responsible for recruitment and assigning duties.” The handout quoted Khattak as saying the provincial government will have nothing to do with the institution.
