The player posted an approximately minute long video on his official Facebook page in which he collectively thanked all of his supporters and said that even though he read all the messages posted by fans on his page due to the sheer amount of messages posted it was difficult for him to answer each one of them individually.
The Twenty20 captain thanked the followers on behalf of the Pakistan cricket team as well and added that he hoped the support would continue as the team prepared for the World Twenty20 to be played next year in India.
Afridi said that like always, he will strive to perform well in order to live up to the expectations of his fans.
Afridi, affectionately known as ‘Boom Boom,’ after his smashing sixes, has been a fan-favourite for decades, and despite being unpredictable with the bat the flamboyant player is regarded as the messiah which Pakistan love to turn to during troubled situations in matches.
