PESHAWAR:

Tehreek-e-Istaqlal Central President Rehmat Khan Wardag lashed out at politicians for making the Kalabagh Dam issue controversial. Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, Wardag said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should call an all parties conference to discuss the construction of the dam and develop a national consensus over the issue. “The Kalabagh Dam could have prevented floods in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Punjab.”

He said the armed forces should launch a military offensive against militants in all parts of the country. “The National Action Plan has not been implemented in Punjab as yet,” Wardag said. He said an operation should take place in Punjab just the way it is being carried out in rest of the country. Condemning the attack on Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada, he said, “The government should announce compensation for those who were martyred in the suicide attack in Attock.”
