The government has allocated Rs400 million for construction of latrines in 3,360 villages of the province.
A spokesman of the district administration told The Express Tribune that the government had allocated funds under Pakistan Approach to Toilet Sanitation (PATS) programme under which latrines would be constructed in 2,470 villages in north Punjab and 890 villages in south Punjab. He said latrines would be built in 100 villages of Faisalabad district. He said an awareness campaign would be launched by district administrations and the Public Health Engineering Department to encourage people to use these latrines.
