Rangers detain PPP leader’s guards
Sources close to Akhtar Jadoon denied earlier reports that Rangers had “raided” Jadoon’s residence
KARACHI:
At least two security guards of a senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Akhtar Jadoon were reportedly detained by the paramilitary force in Keamari area of Karachi on Saturday evening.
Sources close to Jadoon, while explaining the incident, denied earlier reports that Rangers had “raided” Jadoon’s residence, located in Tapu area of Keamari.
However, they said that the Rangers personnel were passing by when they stopped after seeing armed gunmen sitting outside Jadoon’s residence but left soon after the PPP leader showed them the licenses of his security guards’ weapons.
On the other hand, some sources said that Rangers detained at least two of Jadoon’s security guards.
Meanwhile, the paramilitary remained tight lips over incident.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had appointed Jadoon as his special assistant in May this year. He was assigned the portfolio of Local Government.
In the past, he has also served as a provincial minister.
