KARACHI:

At least two people were injured during a clash between the members of two rival political parties in Malir on Monday evening.

A clash took place between two political groups at RCD Ground in Malir. Workers from both the sides used batons and resorted to aerial firing over putting up national flags ahead of Independence Day.

An extra contingent of police and paramilitary force reached the site and brought the situation under control. According to the police, the clash started when workers of rival parties exchanged hot words over an issue that began over putting up national flags.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Saudabad SHO Ganwar Mahar said that the workers of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement - Haqiqi (MQM-H) were putting up national flags when workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement tried to stop them. A clash occurred and two MQM-H workers were wounded. The injured were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
