German envoy meets army chief, lauds Operation Zarb-e-Azb

RAWALPINDI: Newly appointed German Special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Sabine Sparwasser met army chief General Raheel Sharif  on Monday and appreciated the successes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and efforts of Pakistan for regional security.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), she met Chief of Army Staff General Sharif at the GHQ on Monday.

Matters of mutual interest and regional security came under discussion, added the statement.

Earlier during the day, Sparwasser also met Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad.

The military offensive against militants in the tribal belt began in June 2014.
