Over two dozen suspects arrested

KARACHI: Over two dozen suspects were apprehended during the ongoing targeted raids and operations in different parts of the city on Sunday.

Eleven suspects were taken into custody by the paramilitary Rangers in different raids conducted on the basis of intelligence reports in Shadman Town, Frontier Colony, Frontier Colony and Moosa Colony. While the identities of the detainees were not disclosed by the Rangers, sources said that members of a political party, anti-social elements, extortionists and kidnappers were among the detainees.



Similarly, at least 14 suspects were apprehended during an overnight targeted raid conducted in SITE. The entire locality was cordoned off during the operation that continued for at least three hours. No one was allowed to enter or leave the area during the operation, in which an extra contingent of law enforcers participated. During the door-to-door search operation, the police detained around 14 suspects. Those detained included Masroor, Omar, Naeem, Shahid, Amir, Asif, Hanif, Abid, Haroon and Asghar.

Separately, four Afghan nationals were apprehended during targeted raids conducted by the Docks and SITE police. The two suspects arrested by the Docks police were identified as Azam Khan and Saeed Hassan while the other two Afghan nationals, Noor Muhammad and Ameer Muhammad, were apprehended by the SITE police. Cases were registered against them under the Foreign Act.
