LAHORE: Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has requested Lahore High Court (LHC) to ban screening of an Indian movie, Phantom, in Pakistan.

Saeed filed a petition through Advocate AK Dogar submitting that the film’s content included lies against Pakistan and the JuD.

The JuD chief said the film was apparently about the 2008 Mumbai attacks and global terrorism. He said courts in Pakistan had rejected the Indian government’s claims about JuD’s involvement in the Mumbai attacks. Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan would take up the petition on Monday (tomorrow).

Phantom is about Saif’s quest to find and kill Hariz Saeed, a character based on JuD chief Hafiz Saeed.

Earlier, Phantom director Kabir Khan defended his upcoming movie Phantom and said it was not anti-Pakistan. After a journalist lashed out at Kabir saying that India is making movies that portray Pakistan as a terrorist country, the director retorted saying that it’s the negative mindset people have embraced that makes them think of Pakistan as a terrorist country.

“We have a mindset that the terrorists — who are doing things that are anti-India — represent Pakistan. They don’t represent Pakistan. That is the whole point of this film. That’s the whole point of Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” Kabir had said.

Union Jack | 8 years ago | Reply Hafeez should watch this movie to see his end. Or maybe he is only a paper tiger who can growl just from within a cage. He is coward enough to brainwash kids and send them to die. If you really believe in jihad against Hindus and India Mr Saeed, how about you coming over yourself ?
