The Rawalpindi District Health Department will be recruiting as many as 1,067 workers on a year’s contract for a ‘crash programme’ for identification and elimination of dengue larvae in the city.
Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Nasir Mehmood, while talking to APP on Wednesday, said the sanctioned staff for dengue surveillance would be inducted on a contract for a year on a monthly salary of Rs16,000, for which the health department was following the standard operating procedure.
The EDO said the advertisement for recruitment of the staff had already appeared in newspapers.
The health department has demanded of the provincial government to provide at least 1,067 health workers for carrying out surveillance against the spread of dengue and for activities under the anti-dengue drive in the Rawalpindi District and the areas falling under the jurisdiction of the cantonment boards.
In-charge dengue campaign in Rawal Town Dr Tahir Ahmed said that surveillance was being conducted to check larvae in 46 union councils of the town especially in union councils which were declared high-risk areas last year.
