MUZAFFARABAD:
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Tuesday sacked two of his cabinet members belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), a day after they were given ’72-hour ultimatum’ to disassociate themselves from the party chief, Altaf Hussain, over his anti-Pakistan remarks.

The Services and General Administration has also notified the dismissal of the two MQM ministers – Transport Minister Tahir Khokar and Sports Minister Muhammad Saleem Butt. The two were elected on the tickets of Kashmir refugees settled in Pakistan since 1947.

Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General and Finance Minister Chaudhry Latif Akbar had conveyed his party’s decision to Tahir Khokhar.

Khokhar said that they accepted the decision of the prime minister and will move an application in the AJK assembly to allot them seats on the opposition benches.

“We will continue to play the democratic role in the assembly for their people,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MLA and Industries Minister Akbar Ibrahim has submitted a resolution against Altaf Hussain in the legislative assembly that would be tabled and passed on Thursday (tomorrow) during the session.

Resolution passed in K-P

The Khyber-Pakhunkhwa (K-P) assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution against the MQM supremo for his hateful anti-state speeches.

The resolution was moved by the deputy parliamentary leader, Shaukat Yousafzai, along with other members of the provincial assembly.

It demanded the federal government to arrest Altaf through Interpol and bring him back to the country.

“This assembly understands that Altaf’s invitation to India to interfere in Pakistan is condemnable and a letter to the United Nation is regretful,” the resolution said. It urged the federal government to register a treason case against him.
