LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Monday approved 12 development projects billed to cost Rs59 billion. Lahore got a lion’s share of the projects (44.18 per cent) amounting to Rs 26.09 billion.

Planning and Development Board Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi presided over the meeting.

The meeting approved Rs23.57 billon for Lahore Ring Road (LRR), including Rs5.425 billion for land acquisition and relocation of utilities for LRR Southern Loop Package 1, Rs 9.956 billion for Package 2 and Rs 5.820 billion for Package 3. A total of Rs2.376 billion was approved for construction of an interchange at Harbanspura canal crossing.



The PDWP approved Rs1.338 billion for the Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication (PP-IC3) programme; Rs467.99 million for preservation and restoration of Shadara historical monuments complex; Rs2.045 billion for improvement of Multan Road from Thokar Niaz Baig to Chauburji (proposed sewerage drainage and water supply system); Rs8.025 billion for widening of rural roads under Khadem-i-Punjab Roads Programme South Zone; Rs9.892 billion for rehabilitation and widening of rural roads in the Punjab Highways Department, North Zone; Rs782.995 million for widening Ouderwal-Nila Road in Chakwal district; Rs50 million for a topographic survey and geotechnical study for land sliding in Murree hills area (located between old Rawalpindi-Murree Road and Islamabad-Murree Expressway); and Rs827.031 million for the establishment of Directorate General of Monitoring and Evaluation.



The meeting was attended by members of the Planning and Development Board, the chief secretary and other senior representatives of provincial departments.
