The 75-year-old iconic actor believes his famous name could cause his first born child Julie, 25, to be hounded by the press and since the aspiring film producer is following in her father's footsteps, he has urged her to seriously consider changing it, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"I still feel, as a father, it would be better for her in her young life, to try another name, so she's not identifiable," Pacino told Shortlist magazine.

The Scarface actor also has 14-year-old twins Anton James and Olivia Rose with actress Beverly D'Angelo, but they have been given their mother's family name.

"When I started out, everything was happening. I was wearing wigs, I was being chased down the street, but if someone asked me if I was me, I had to say, 'Yes I'm Al.' It makes me feel funny not to, because that's who I am. I even said to my daughter, maybe it'd be easier for her to use another name, but she said, 'But that's who I am'," he said.

noneedforaname | 8 years ago | Reply this has nothing to do with being proud. it is a sad reality that people will judge you by your name and things will be different for you, if you have famous parents. a lot of children of famous people have problems, that are caused by this: being stalked, getting more attention, getting into drugs, getting kidnapped. of course there is also positive sides and changing the name will not necessarily mean, she wont be identified by the people around her as al pacinos daughter. but in general it would probably mean less attention when checking into hotels, flights, etc. maybe she is enjoying the attention, but as a father it is ok for him to recommend this. he probably sees this from the outside and worries that his name will cause her more troubles than opening up doors. there is not many children of famous people that actually can replicate the success of their parents and it might also be, because they simply do not have to work as hard as their parents. most children of famous actors / celebrities that try to become as famous as their parents do not make it or just plain suck. she does not say on her website, that she is the child of al pacino, which shows she does not try to use her father as a stepping stone for her career, which hints at the possibilitiy that she might not be in the danger to fall into the traps that many famous parents children fall. as a parent you want your children to succeed because of their talent and not because they are your children and people recognize your name.
wanda dean | 8 years ago | Reply I think that Al Pacino should let his daughter chose whatever name she wants. She's proud of her name as she's proud of her father. If his name causes some kind of stigma on him, he has to deal with it on his own. Shes proud of who she is. Let her live her life the way she wants, but always have her back and be there when needed....... Say it loud I'm proud of whose daughter I am.
