LAHORE:

Qila Gujjar Singh police said on Tuesday they had seized two Alsatian dogs after they attacked a team during a raid and helped their owner escape.

Requesting anonymity, an officer said police had received a tip about a bootlegger.

“An eight-member police team raided the house near Victoria Park a couple of days ago. As soon as we entered the residence to arrest the suspects, two dogs were let loose on us. Some of us withdrew while others hit out at the dogs with their guns. This gave the main suspect, Soneel, time to escape. However, we arrested another suspect, Sohail,” the officer said.

Sohail and the dogs were taken to the police station, he said.“We seized 36 bottles of liquor from the house. Sohail was locked up and the dogs were tied in the courtyard of the station,” he said. Later, police registered an FIR. Sohail was produced before a judicial magistrate on Tuesday. The court sent him on a 14-day judicial remand.
