MULTAN: Cabinet Committee on Floods Chairman Shuja Khanzada said on Friday that there was no imminent threat of a flood in River Chenab and urged people to avail relief facilities set up by the government.

He was talking to newsmen after an inspection of Shershah Bridge and Head Muhammadwala, Akbar Flood bund, Bosan bund, and Shershah bund. He was accompanied by Commissioner Asadullah Khan.

The minister said flow in Chenab at Trimmu was 90,000 cusecs.

He said embankments had been strengthened and district administration and Pakistan Army’s engineering department had expressed satisfaction over the safety measures.

Khanzada said the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) was monitoring monsoon rains.
