BAHAWALPUR:

Scores of clerks and their families, led by All Pakistan Clerks Association leaders, on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the government for failing to pay advance salaries for Eid.

They gathered in front of Bahawalpur Zoo and chanted slogans against the government. The protesters were led by APCA general secretary Fakharur Rehman. They were carrying placards and banners bearing their demands and blocked the road near the zoo for traffic. Addressing the protesters, Rehman said advance payment salaries for Eid had been a standard practice in the past.

He said this year, the government had not issued the salaries ahead of Eid holidays “Thousands of families could not afford as a result to buy clothes and shoes for their children this Eid,” he said.
