The Bahawalpur City tehsil municipal administrator was shot by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night.
A spokesman of the tehsil municipal office said Zahid Javed was going home after taraweeh prayers when two men riding a motorbike shot him.
He was taken to Bahawal Victoria by Rescue 1122 where he underwent emergency surgery and was later kept at the intensive care unit. Doctors later said his condition was stable.
Police said Javed had told them that the men were wearing masks and green shirts. They said pickets had been set up across Bahawalpur and a search operation had been launched to apprehend the suspects.
