RAWALPINDI: Special Anti-Narcotics Court Judge Irum Niazi has acquitted Zahid Mehmood who was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for smuggling 2,500kgs of hashish inside a container. The judge commented that ANF failed to arrest the real smugglers in the case. Advocate Yasir Hussain, representing the suspect, said ANF nabbed the driver of the vehicle transporting the goods but failed to produce any evidence that he was part of a smuggling gang. He added that his client was unaware of the contents of the container and thus received an acquittal from the court. Several suspected smugglers, nabbed by ANF and other agencies, are acquitted in court for lack of evidence.
