The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has imposed fines worth Rs2,667,300 on profiteers for overcharging during price checking in Ramazan.



The profiteers were not displaying the rate lists of food items. Magistrates have also sent 352 profiteers to the judicial lock-up. The food department’s inspection teams also inspected 222 food outlets in the city and rural areas and imposed fines worth Rs22,000 on food business owners for unhygienic conditions.


The teams also issued 26 notices to food outlets for failing to comply with food safety laws. Owners were found involved in cooking and selling sub-standard food items for Iftar.


The teams also confiscated the sub-standard food items and sent 19 food samples to the laboratory for analysis.
