A non-governmental organisation in collaboration with rescue and civil defence departments held a public talk on earthquake risk reduction at Jamia Masjid last week.

The session was held by Pakistan’s People-led Disaster Management Movement (PLDM) and attended by Rescue 1122, Pakistan Red Crescent Society and officials of the civil defence department and Edhi Foundation, said a press release.

Residents were informed by experts on what to do during an earthquake.

PLDM has also prepared a pamphlet describing the seismic danger that old Rawalpindi city faces.

It has also submitted an earthquake risk reduction plan for Rawalpindi to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
