FAISALABAD:

Shortage of flour and sugar was reported in several Ramazan Bazaars across Faisalabad last week.

Dilawar Hussain, a shopper at Jhang Road Ramazan Bazaar, told The Express Tribune that he had been trying for four days to buy flour. “I have visited Ramazan Bazaars in Ghulam Muhammadabad and Gulberg but the shopkeepers have told me flour has not been supplied,” he said.

“I then came to the Ramazan Bazaar on Jhang Road but there seems to be no flour here as well” he said.

Khurram Moin, a customer at the Ramazan Bazaar near Iqbal Stadium, said he had visited the market six times to buy sugar. He said there was none to be found at the Ramazan Bazaar.

“I asked the organiser why there was no sugar available,” he said. “He told me that there was a shortage of sugar in the entire district.” He said the chief minister should take notice of the situation.

A spokesman of district administration, Abdul Hameed, said, “We have arranged a sufficient quantity of sugar and flour. These commodities will be available at the Ramazan Bazaars within 24 hours”.

The district administration has set up more than a dozen Ramazan Bazaars.
