A peaceful Muharram: Administrator pays tribute to governor, IT minister
Says there were no complaints from residents.

Muhrram arrangements, especially security, were flawless, said City Administrator Fazlur Rehman on Friday, after Muharram 9 and 10 passed without any major incidents.
He lauded the City District Government Karachi (CDGK), whose command and control centre “played a pivotal role in keeping law and order in the city”, he told The Express Tribune on Friday at the centre in Civic Centre.
The Corps V Commander also visited the centre, where the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chinoy, SP Operations-II Asif Razzaq and other officials from law-enforcement agencies, including the Rangers stayed to oversee the digital monitoring.
The Muharram procession was closely monitored and no “anti-social” activity took place because of the stringent security measures, said SP Razzaq and Chinoy.
The administrator also credited the peaceful Ashura days to the governor, Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, and the IT minister, Raza Haroon. Efforts were streamlined with the help of their support, Rehman said.
He said that the governor and Haroon remained in close contact with religious scholars of different schools of thought, representatives of azadar associations, police, Rangers and DCOs.
CDGK officials and employees had executed their responsibilities diligently and there were no complaints of security, medical or other facilities, Rehman said. He said he visited several imambargahs to check the security arrangements.
