Tottenham forward Adebayor converts to Islam

Two popular African footballers, Emmanuel Emenike and Emmanuel Adebayor, have reportedly converted to Islam.

Adebayor, the Togolese Football icon, was seen taking the Shahada [the core belief of Muslims that Allah is one and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger] in a video on Sunday.

Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq and the inventor of 'Doosra' also congratulated Adebayor on his conversion.




He was surrounded by Muslim leaders and supporters who witnessed the conversion and the ceremony is thought to have been held in Togo, Adebayor’s adoptive country.



Similarly, Super Eagles striker Emenike revealed his conversion during a discourse with the coach of his club Vitor Pereira, Daily Post reported.

He was inquired by his manager about his whereabouts when he was missing during team’s breakfast on Saturday and in reply he confessed his coversion.

When asked where was he, Emenike said: “I’m fasting”. Pereira replied: “You’re not a Muslim.” Emenike insisted: “I became a Muslim. I am a Muslim.”
