"No new tax in coming budget"

Provincial Minister for Finance & Planning & Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said that 'the present Government was trying hard to provide relief to the people of Pakistan and its the need of the hour to work to overcome inflation because its the middle and poor classes that are the most affected.'

The Provincial Minister for Finance & Planning & Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said that the energy conservation plan has produced positive results already and 500 MW electricity was saved within two days, but the new projects of energy should be set up besides the conversation plan.


He said that the government will enhance the funds for Agriculture, Education, Health and Infrastructure sector in the new budget and would spend more money on public welfare oriented projects.

He told the press that the government will not impose any new tax in the coming budget but we would rationalize the revenue target and the base of tax net would be increased. The Minister said that the bill of value added tax (VAT) had been presented at the Punjab Assembly.

He said that VAT is not a new tax, it is the alternate of GST. He said that the present government is fully committed to resolving the problems of the people on a priority basis.
