LAHORE: A writ petition was filed in Lahore High Court on Saturday seeking directives for cancellation of contracts awarded by the city district government of Lahore (CDGL) to the bar association for management of various parking lots at the lower courts. Petitioner Iftikhar Ahmad submitted that contracts had been given to the bar association in violation of the law. He complained about bar association’s management of the parking space and said that they were charging exorbitant fees to visitors, including litigants, using the space to park their vehicles. He requested the court to take notice of the high parking fees charged from litigants and to stop the CDGL from awarding the contracting to bar associations.
