The judge of a consumer court issued a notice to the owner of a mobile phone shop on Saturday over a suit seeking Rs150,000 damages.
Petitioner Muhammad Mumtaz told the court that he had purchased a mobile phone from Muhammad Akram in Sanda. He said Akram had assured him that he would fix the device in the event of any fault. Mumtaz said he had realised that the phone had not been functioning properly a few days after he had purchased the device. He said some of the buttons on the device’s keypad had stopped functioning and the phone used to hang infrequently. Mumtaz said he had contacted Akram in this regard who had directed him to get the device repaired at his shop. He said Akram had not been able to remedy the faults. Mumtaz said Akram had tried to avoid the matter before blatantly refusing to repair the device. He asked the court to direct the proprietor of the mobile phone shop to pay him Rs150,000 damages on this account.
