Vision 2025: Rail sector to claim bigger role

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways plans to enhance its share in overall transport sector of the country from 4 percent to 20 per cent in the next ten years. The department, in line with vision 2025 of government, is undertaking some necessary initiatives for infrastructure development so as to meet the set goals and to make railways an improved and credible entity. Highlighting the new initiatives being taken to improve performance of Railways and achieve tangible results, official sources on Friday said the railways ministry is in process of preparing Railway Strategic Plan (RSP) to operationalise targets set in the Vision which would provide a long term framework for railway sector development.
