Petroleum crisis : Govt gets time to complete inquiry
The petitioner had requested the court to order a judicial inquiry into the matter
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court on Tuesday gave the federal government more time to complete its inquiry into shortage of petroleum products earlier in the year and adjourned for an indefinite period hearing of a petition seeking action against people responsible for the matter. Earlier, a law officer representing the federal government told the court that preparations for the federal budget had prevented a committee formed to investigate the matter to start its proceedings. He requested the court to give the government more time to submit the report. Petitioner Insaf Lawyers’ Forum had submitted that some government officials had allegedly engineered a shortage of petroleum products in the country to allow its black marketing. The petitioner had requested the court to order a judicial inquiry into the matter.
