QUETTA: Balochistan Shia Conference Vice President Syed Musrat Husain resigned from the organisation to mark his protest against failure of law enforcement agencies to maintain peace in Quetta during Muharram.

While addressing a news conference at the Quetta Press Club, he said that despite informing the provincial government and law enforcement agencies about the sensitivity of Saryab area, where he said sectarian killings usually take place, no efforts were made to prevent and control the situation and as a result three people from the Shia community were shot dead within five minutes.

He said that terminating the services of SHO Saryab was not enough and there is a need for more concrete action to eliminate sectarian killings.

“I am resigning from my organisation along with other companions because of the law enforcement agencies’ failure to arrest culprits and stop the killings. I have picked up many bodies and now I cannot see more bloodshed,” he said.
