Food Authority seals units across City
PFA officials said FIRs had been registered against the owners of the establishments

The Punjab Food Authority’s campaign against those involved in making and selling unhygienic and adulterated eatables continued on the directive of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a statement issued on Sunday said.
It said a chips factory in Green Town area had been sealed and a man had been arrested on this account. Separately, PFA Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz resealed a jam factory that had been unsealed illegally. The PFA had sealed the establishment due to poor standards of cleanliness and use of hazardous ingredients. The building of the factory was rife with insects and PFA officials had come across a lizard in a bathtub there.
On the other hand, the PFA’s Data Gunj Baksh Town’s team sealed the manufacturing unit of a confectionary chain at Katcha Jail Road due to poor hygiene standards, dirty equipment and compromising standards of storing eatables. The PFA’s Ravi Town team separately three small factories engaged in the production of vermicelli. The team had discovered that there was a washroom in the production area of one of the factories. Another was sealed due to poor cleanliness standards and illegal business practices. One of the factories was sealed due to poor cleanliness and use of substandard equipment. The factories’ employees had not had medical checkups. PFA officials said FIRs had been registered against the owners of the establishments and seven people were arrested in the wake of the development.
