Visit to Faisalabad: ‘Ramazan Bazaars provide easy access to subsidised goods’

Rafique says action should be taken against hoarders and profiteers

FAISALABAD: The government has set up a network of Ramazan Bazaars to provide relief to consumers during the holy month, said Adviser to Chief Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said on Sunday.

He was talking to newsmen during a visit to Ramazan Bazaars in Faisalabad.

He said it was imperative that people have access to essential items on controlled prices.

He said the chief minister had announced a Ramazan subsidy package of Rs3.5 billion. He said administrative machinery of all districts in the province had been mobilised to monitor Ramazan Bazaar arrangements.

The adviser said prices of food items were also being monitored in the open market. He said special price control magistrates had been assigned duties to take strict action against profiteers.

The adviser visited the Ramazan Bazaar at Faizan-i-Madina Chowk on Susan Road and the Model Ramazan Bazaar on Jhang Road.

He took a round of the bazaars and checked quality of fruit, vegetables and groceries.

Rafique said it quality of the essential commodities should be maintained.

He urged citizens to register complaints against sale of poor quality material.

He expressed his satisfaction on over all arrangements in the Ramazan Bazaars and appreciated the efforts of DCO Noorul Amin Mengal and his team in this regard.

Mengal told Rafique that 18 Ramazan Bazaars had been set up in the district and special assignments had been given for supply of vegetables, fruit, pulses, poultry items and other items of daily use on subsidized rates.

He said 53 price control magistrate had been mobilised to check prices in the general market and strict action was being taken against profiteers and hoarders.
