Three Lyari gang members killed in Karachi 'encounter'

The gangsters were killed in two separate operations conducted by Rangers in coordination with police

KARACHI: At least three suspected members of the Lyari gang war were killed by Rangers and police in two separate encounters in Karachi on Friday night.  

Acting on intelligence reports, Rangers conducted a joint operation with the police in Wichani Mohallah, Chakiwara and Lyari against criminals involved in gang war. When Rangers reached the suspected hideout of the criminals, they indiscriminately fired and tried to escape.

“Rangers killed off three notorious gangsters after an exchange of fire, while few others managed to escape in the dark,” a Rangers official told The Express Tribune.

The bodies of the gangsters were shifted to Civil Hospital where they were later identified. One of the suspects was identified as Majid alias Rickshaw Wala, resident of Liaqat Colony Lyari. Majid was linked with Shakeel Commando, Uzair Baloch group and was involved in 26 murders, kidnapping for ransom, dacoities and extortion.

The second deceased was identified as Abdul Samad alias Mulla resident of Khadda Market Lyari. He was linked with Furqan alias Yamah of Uzair Baloch group and was involved in 10 murders, extortion, dacoities and drug peddling. The third gangster was identified as Imam Bux alias Khairo, resident of Liaqat colony, Lyari. He was linked with Shakeel Commando of Uzair Baloch group and was involved in four murders, dacoities, extortion and drug peddling.

Weapons were also recovered from their possession.

Earlier, Rangers also conducted an intelligence driven joint targeted operation with collaboration of police at Bihar Colony against criminals of gang war. There, they were met with indiscriminate firing to which they responded and killed two criminals off.

The killed were identified as Anees, who was linked with Baba Ladla group and involved in 19 killings, extortion and snatching cases, along with Junaid, who was also linked with the same group.
