Money Laundering: LHC to take up Ayan’s plea today

Justice Abdul Sami Khan of Lahore High Court (LHC) would take up on Friday (today) an appeal by model Ayan Ali challenging money-laundering proceedings against her before a Special Customs Courts, Rawalpindi, and dismissal of a bail petition. On Thursday, the appeal was fixed for hearing before Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa. Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, her counsel, requested the judge to refer the appeal to the chief justice so that he might fix it for hearing before an appellate bench for customs cases. Khosa said that since Justice Khan was member of the appellate bench for customs cases, the appeal should be fixed before him. Justice Bajwa had accepted the request. Court officials said that the appeal would be taken up on Friday (today).
