PESHAWAR:
At least 36 final-year projects were showcased at the University of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the city on Wednesday.
According a press release, the exhibition, which was organised by the department of mechanical engineering, provided a platform for graduating students to present projects they had been working on during their final semester. During the exhibition, a panel of judges from the department evaluated the projects and selected three projects which were both effective and efficient.
The press release added a project on the design and manufacturing of a two-stroke hydro-power generator won the blue ribbon. Projects on purifying and upgrading bio-gas purification and design modification of a mid-engine, rear wheel sports car clinched second and third positions, respectively.
Acting Vice Chancellor and faculty dean, Noor Mohammad, said, “The exhibition provided engineering students with an opportunity to directly interact with people who are linked with the industry.” He said graduating students had prepared projects which had practical importance.
During the closing ceremony, Mohammad distributed shields and certificates among winners and participants and lauded their commitment and dedication to their work.
Last year, final year students at UET had designed a transportable solar-powered cooler to keep medicinal vaccines at temperatures recommended by World Health Organization.
