Sub-inspector gunned down in Karachi’s Baldia Town
DSP Naeem Khan says initial inquiry into the attack points towards personal enmity behind the attack
KARACHI:
A police sub-inspector was gunned down in an act of target killing in Karachi’s Baldia Town area on Wednesday.
Sub-inspector Riaz Mughal, 45, was posted at the Clifton police station. He was shot dead by unidentified armed motorcyclists near his residence in Al Sadat Chowk, within the remits of Saeedabad police station, on Wednesday.
Abid Akhtar, a 25-year-old passerby, was also wounded in the attack.
Both were taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi where the police officer succumbed to his wounds.

DSP Naeem Khan said an initial inquiry suggested that the attack was motivated due to personal enmity. However, a case had been registered and further investigation was underway.
Earlier on June 9, a DSP of Sindh Police was gunned down in a targeted attack in Karachi.
Over 50 police officers have been gunned down in the city since January.
