Final death toll from sunken China cruise ship reaches 442: report

The final death toll from sunken China cruise ship has reached 442, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

The cruise ship was hit by a tornado and capsized on the Yangtze River on June 1 in what could be China's worst shipping disaster in nearly 70 years.


Following the incident, rescuers had searched for more than 400 missing people, many of them elderly Chinese tourists.

There were 458 people on board when the ship capsized.
