Bloodletting in Balochistan and Karachi manifest enemy's hostile intent: army chief

Gen Raheel says army will safeguard interests, including Kashmir, CPEC and development of ports

Army chief General Raheel Sharif said on Saturday Pakistan is willing to pay any price to protect and safeguard its interests, including Kashmir and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

“We are ready to pay any price to protect our nationhood and safeguard our interests be it Kashmir, development of new ports or the exploitation of natural resources,” the army chief said, while addressing the Naval Academy passing out parade.

“The entire world endorses our security concerns regarding ceasefire violations, bloodshed in Federally Administered tribal areas,” the army chief was quoted as saying by DG ISPR Asim Bajwa.



Further, the army chief said, “Pakistan has shown willingness to cooperate with other nations for peace but not at the expense of our national interests, sovereign rights and national pride.”



Earlier this month, calling Pakistan and Kashmir ‘inseparable,’ the army chief  described the festering dispute over the Himalayan region as an ‘unfinished agenda’ of the 1947 partition in a strong rejoinder to a flurry of provocative statements emanating from India.

Regarding the China, Pakistan Economic Corridor the army chief said it holds enormous potential for transforming the lives of the region's people.

“Acutely aware of enemy campaigns and will defeat designs against it,” he further assured.



“CPEC with Gwadar Port as its catalyst will be built and developed as one of most strategic deep sea port in the region at any cost whatsoever.”

Further, speaking about the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb launched against militants in North Waziristan, General Raheel said, “Entire nation expresses resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism.”



“Operation Zarb-e-Azb is delivering decisive results and terrorists resorting to desperate actions,” he added.

“Encouraging to see entire nation pursuing this national effort with great sense of purpose,” General Raheel added.
