Bribery and nepotism: Anti-corruption director, excise secretary arrested

The provincial director of the anti-corruption department and the secretary of the Sindh excise and taxation department were arrested for their alleged involvement in illegal recruitment.


The arrests were made by the National Accountability Bureau (Nab), Karachi. According to a Nab Karachi spokesperson, their team arrested Badar Jamil Mandhro, the former minority affairs secretary and presently working as the Sindh excise and taxation secretary and Khadim Hussain Channa, the former minority affairs director and presently working as the Sindh anti-corruption department director.


The spokesperson further said that the arrested accused, being the members of the departmental selection committee of the minority affairs department, were involved in the recruitment of 26 officers through illegal means, after taking bribes.
