Public education: Teachers not guinea pigs for experiments, says MMA
MMA Punjab chairman Tariq Mehmood said poor government planning had ruined the education system
FAISALABAD:
The Mutahidda Mahaaz Asatiza (MMA) said on Wednesday they would launch a province-wide movement for education called Taleem Bachao on June 6.
MMA Punjab chairman Tariq Mehmood said poor government planning had ruined the education system. He said teachers had been working day and night to improve literacy.
He said the government had deprived public school teachers of basic amenities. He said the government had made teachers guinea pigs for experiments on education policy. He said when teachers protested against the government, they were harassed and their union leaders were arrested. Mehmood said the MMA had decided to launch a province-wide movement from June 6. He said arrangements in this regard were being finalised.
He said the government must soften its stance on teachers and hear their concerns.
