LAHORE:
Lahore High Court, on Monday, sought a reply from the DCO on a plea against raids conducted by price control magistrates.
Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan issued the order on a petition by Khawar Ali, a vegetable vendor in Dharampura. Ali said the magistrates had become ‘money-asking machines’ for the government.
The vendor said the officials demanded bribes and imposed fines if their demands were not met. Ali said a certain magistrate not only fined him but also jailed his younger brother. Justice Khan ordered the DCO to file a detailed reply by June 18.
